The Green Bay Packers are entering the 2023 season with a new look and with a new guy at the helm. As Green Bay transitions into its first season with QB Jordan Love leading the way, here are some predictions for their 2023 season.

Week 1: at Chicago Bears

Prediction: Win

The Green Bay Packers vs. Chicago Bears. One of the greatest rivalries in all of sports. The Packers currently hold the all-time series lead at 105-95-6 and are set to play them again to lead off their season. The Bears are probably thankful they don’t have to face off against Aaron Rodgers again, but they are still playing a young and confident Packers roster. I believe the Packers will continue their success against Chicago and claim another season opener victory against them.

Week 2: at Atlanta Falcons

Falcons RB Bijan Robinson (7) – Dale Zanine/USA TODAY Sports

Prediction: Win

The Atlanta Falcons are another young team still trying to find their footing as the kind of team they are. They have some talented pieces on offense in Kyle Pitts and Bijan Robinson. It’ll be early in the season so it should come down to coaching and which defense will step up. If Packers DC Joe Barry can trick the young Falcons offense and QB Desmond Ridder into some costly mistakes, Green Bay should still win on the road.

Week 3: vs. New Orleans Saints

Saints QB Derek Carr – Matthew Hinton/Associated Press

Prediction: Loss

The New Orleans Saints, led by QB Derek Carr, will be coming into week three after playing the Titans and Panthers, which are two very winnable games. This seems like a spot where a very well-coached team is able to stop a confident and young Packers team in their home opener. It will be a great test for QB Jordan Love in his first-ever home opener.

Week 4: vs. Detroit Lions

Prediction: Loss

Detroit went 2-0 against Green Bay last season, and I think they carry their momentum along with a roster that’s only getting better and hands the Packers their second straight loss.

Week 5: at Las Vegas Raiders

Raiders WR Davante Adams (17) – Ethan Miller/Getty Images

Prediction: Win

After two straight losses, a young Packers team faces some adversity, and if Matt LaFleur can make the right adjustments, the Green Bay Packers can regain some momentum heading into their bye week. It’ll also be Davante Adams’ first game against his former squad.

Week 6: BYE

Week 7: at Denver Broncos

Broncos HC Sean Payton – Tony Gorman/CPR News

Prediction: Loss

This will really come down to if the Broncos team is like last year’s squad, or if the Sean Payton led squad turned it around. Their defense has always been great and could really give Love and the Green Bay Packers some problems.

Week 8: vs Minnesota Vikings

Vikings WR Justin Jefferson (18) – Stacy Bengs/AP Photo

Prediction: Win

Both of these teams have matched up evenly in recent years, and this season should be the same as well. An inconsistent Green Bay Packers team picking up a victory at home against a division rival would bode well at this point of the season, and if they’re able to plan for Justin Jefferson like they did last meeting, they should be able to secure the win.

Week 9: vs. Los Angeles Rams

Rams WR Cooper Kupp (10) – Chris O’Meara/Associated Press

Prediction: Win

Back-to-back home games and coming off a huge win should give this Green Bay Packers team some confidence. The Rams are a team with a big question mark about their roster after the Jalen Ramsey trade, and the Packers should be able to outplay L.A.

Week 10: at Pittsburgh Steelers

Steelers DE TJ Watt (90) – Justin Berl/Getty Images

Prediction: Loss

The Green Bay Packers are back on the road and go against a feisty Steelers defense led by TJ Watt and a team coached by Mike Tomlin. It’ll be a tough test for Green Bay’s offense, and Pittsburgh’s defense should give them a tough time.

Week 11: vs Los Angeles Chargers

Chargers QB Justin Herbert (10) – Marcio Jose Sanchez/AP Photo

Prediction: Loss

The schedule is only getting tougher for the Green Bay Packers from here, and they face a very talented Chargers roster led by QB Justin Herbert. They do have home-field advantage, so they should try to use that to any advantage they can in this matchup.

Week 12: at Detroit Lions

Lions DE Aidan Hutchinson (97) – Stacy Revere/Getty Images

Prediction: Win

This game should determine if the Packers’ season ends up spiraling or not. They go on the road against a talented Lions roster who beat them at home already. This is a spot where Matt LaFleur and company rise up to the challenge and get a hard-fought road victory against a division opponent.

Week 13: vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes (15) – Jamie Squire/Getty Images

Prediction: Loss

Playing against the defending Super Bowl champion isn’t an easy task for any team. It’s also not an easy task for a young team who hasn’t found consistency yet. This is a spot where Patrick Mahomes should take advantage, although it is a December home game where Green Bay has had much success.

Week 14: at New York Giants

Giants RB Saquon Barkley – Jim McIsaac/Getty Images

Prediction: Loss

The Green Bay Packers lost to the Giants last season, and many had the Packers winning that game. The Giants roster has improved, and with playoff aspirations once again, they seem to have that upper hand over Green Bay as QB Daniel Jones continues to make strides.

Week 15: vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Prediction: Win

The Packers get an opportunity for a get-right game at home against a Bucs team that wasn’t what it once was when Tom Brady was in town. Shall they get by a stingy Bucs’ D? Green Bay should stay competitive as a playoff push is in sight.

Week 16: at Carolina Panthers

Panthers QB Bryce Young (9) – im Dedmon-USA TODAY Sports

Prediction: Win

The Green Bay Packers get a date with #1 overall pick Bryce Young and company. It’ll be interesting to see the kind of season Young is having at this point. A rookie quarterback is still a rookie, and Green Bay should take full advantage of that and take care of business.

Week 17: at Minnesota Vikings

Packers CB Jaire Alexander (23) – Tork Mason/USA TODAY Sports

Prediction: Loss

The NFC North isn’t projected to be a strong division this season, which means both of these team may still be playing for a spot in the playoffs. After losing earlier in the season to the Green Bay Packers, the Vikings figure out how to use Justin Jefferson to their advantage and tie the season series at 1-1.

Week 18: vs Chicago Bears

Green Bay Packers RB Aaron Jones vs Bears

Packers RB Aaron Jones (33) – Stacy Revere/Getty Images

Prediction: Win

At this point in the season, the Green Bay Packers projected record would be 8-8. They lost last year’s season finale which dropped them to 8-9 and kicked them out of playoff contention. If this season is like the previous one and Green Bay still has playoff hopes in the last week, things will go differently. A home game against the Bears is all the motivation needed, and even if there isn’t a playoff berth on the line, there sure is a lot of pride.

Final Record Prediction: 9-8

With a final record of 9-8, that would’ve put the Green Bay Packers in the playoffs last season. The NFC North isn’t considered a strong suit this year, which means the Packers should have more opportunities and paths to make the 2023-24 playoffs. Two of the biggest things that’ll determine the Packers’ success level this season will be QB Jordan Love and how effective DC Joe Barry uses the talented defense he’s surrounded by.
