With the NFL offseason ongoing for the New York Giants, the team has made moves to improve the team. After exceeding expectations for a surprise playoff appearance and wild win, New York hopes to enhance the team. With most of the team needs filled this offseason, the New York Giants could contend this upcoming season. There are still questions and doubts about the team with Daniel Jones leading them, but they could be proven wrong. There is also hope that the losses in free agency don’t affect the team in the season. The Giants are also looking into a growing NFC with teams improving throughout this NFL offseason. New York could be a contender in 2023 if everything falls right.

The New York Giants’ Improvements

During this offseason, the New York Giants had two questions the team needed to answer, which were resolved quickly. The main questions the Giants had this offseason were about resigning Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley to the team. New York answered those questions by signing Daniel Jones to a contract extension for four years and 160 million dollars. Along with keeping Jones, the Giants franchise tagged Saquon Barkly, keeping him in the team for another year. With those questions answered New York added pieces to the team with Darren Waller, Parris Campbell, and more. New York is adding more to the offense with weapons for Daniel Jones to have in 2023. The Giants, with this offense, hope to compete soon.

Along with the team improving the offense, the New York Giants improving the defense for the better. The Giants improve the team linebacker position by signing Bobby Okerke to a four-year deal. New York also tries and stabilize the secondary with the signings of veteran cornerback Amani Oruwariye and safety Bobby McCain. The McCain signing was to replace the loss of Julian Love and hopes to mentor the young defense. New York needs the defense the improve in the run defense and could gain more in the draft. Along with secondary help for the team, the Giants also signed defensive tackle Rakeem Nunez-Roches for depth. This Giants’ defense has the potential to become a great defense if these signings work.

The Giants’ Offseason Losses

New York has done well fixing the pieces they need to improve but also lost critical contributors this offseason. The Giants have lost defensive safety Julian Love to the Seahawks and created a hole in safety. Along with the losses in defense is losing offensive line guards Nick Gates and Jon Feliciano to free agency. The need for an offensive line is high, and losing two is brutal for the team. New York will need to replace these offensive guardsmen for the line to improve in the draft. The Giants are big but could be filled in this offseason and the draft in the second and third rounds. This Giants team could be great if their problems are filled correctly.

This Giants team still has needs for the team but can; fix them this offseason to contend this 2023 season. The Giants have done well in signing their key players, Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley, and weapons for Daniel Jones. Along with getting offensive help, the Giants also did well, improving the defense by signing secondary aid for the team. New York did well in filling the holes in secondary help for the team in hopes of improving the defense. During the offseason, New York has lost former players, including Julian Love, and some of their linemen in free agency. There is hope the Giants can fix those holes with free agency and the draft to contend this upcoming season.
