The Miami Dolphins are a special case when it comes to the 2023 draft, making the creation of a mock draft a little difficult. The Dolphins only have four total picks, so it really is slim pickings. Miami has already traded several picks earlier. This includes WR Tyreek Hill and LB Bradley Chubb in 2022, as well as CB Jalen Ramsey this year.

We can’t forget that the Dolphins were penalized by the NFL for previous tampering while in pursuit of QB Tom Brady. This led to their first-round pick being forfeited. With all of this considered, Miami will have a second-round pick (52nd overall), a third-round pick (85th), a sixth-round pick (199th), and a seventh-round pick (240th). Obviously not spectacular, but we’ll work with what we get.

Second-round Pick

Alabama RB Jahmyr Gibbs (1) is a prospect on the Miami Dolphins mock draft - Chattanooga Times Free Press

RB Jahmyr Gibbs – Alabama

This would be the pick in a perfect world. It’s possible. Last season with Alabama, Gibbs had 51 carries for 926 rushing yards and seven touchdowns, along with 44 receptions for 444 yards and three more scores and returned kicks. If Gibbs isn’t available for Miami, I’m unsure that an RB is a way to go for this pick.

Third-round Pick

Iowa TE Sam LaPorta (84) - David Berding/Getty Images

TE Sam LaPorta – Iowa

The Dolphins are in need of a TE on the roster, so this would be a sound choice. Also, quite a lucky one. LaPorta finished his collegiate season with Iowa with 58 catches for 657 yards and one touchdown. This was an impressive record, considering the weight he had to carry on the offensive line. It could work. Either way, it works on this mock draft.

Sixth-round and seventh-round Pick

Michigan OT Ryan Hayes (76) - Michigan Athletics

I don’t have a lot to explain here other than Miami could bulk up in these areas. With so few picks to begin with, it is difficult to say what would be the best decision here. I also say all of this with the understanding it would be unlikely for the Dolphins to land Henry To’o To’o along with Jahmyr Gibbs. Either direction would be great.

I really wish I had more to offer you, but unfortunately, that is not the case with this mock draft.
