Florida Gators that Have Officially Entered the Transfer Portal So Far

The transfer portal officially opened on Monday and several Florida Gators players have either officially put their names in or announced their intentions to do so.

The Gators, given the size of the currently committed 2024 recruiting class and number of players graduating, should be anticipating losing around 15-20 players to the transfer portal to make room for the new roster additions that will be made over the course of the offseason.

DE Princely Umanmielen

Florida Gators defensive end Princely Umanmielen (1) – Maddie Washburn/Florida Athletics

The Gators are losing one of their best defensive linemen to the transfer portal as Princely Umanmielen has officially entered his name in. Umanmielen was named Second-Team All SEC after starting in every game for the Gators in 2023, posting 11.5 tackles for loss and seven sacks. Umanmielen was viewed as a Day 2 2024 NFL Draft pick, but he’s decided to return to college and play for a different team.

OL Jordan Herman

Redshirt sophomore offensive lineman Jordan Herman has entered in the transfer portal. Herman appeared in one game in 2023 for the Gators against McNeese at the beginning of the season. Herman appeared in two games in 2022, playing against South Carolina and Eastern Washington.

K Adam Mihalek

Transfer Portal

Florida Gators kicker Adam Mihalek (49) – Gabriella Whisler/Florida Athletics

Adam Mihalek, who was the starting kicker for the Gators at the beginning of the season but lost the starting duties to Trey Smack, is entering the transfer portal. Mihalek converted 15-24 field goal attempts and 46-48 extra point attempts across two seasons for the Gators.

TE Jonathan Odom

Florida Gators tight end Jonathan Odom (87) – Maddie Washburn/Florida Athletics

Jonathan Odom, a Florida legacy whose dad Jason was an All-American offensive lineman, has dealt with multiple season-ending injuries during his time at Florida, and is now entering the transfer portal. Odom finished his Gators career with 16 catches for 144 yards and two touchdowns.

S Kamari Wilson

Florida Gators safety Kamari Wilson (5) – Courtney Culbreath/Florida Athletics

Safety Kamari Wilson is a former four-star recruit that Florida Gators head coach Billy Napier landed during his transition to Florida in 2022 from IMG Academy. Wilson played in all 13 games for Florida in 2022, recording 39 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, a forced fumble, a pass breakup. Wilson looked set to be the next Gators star safety prospect, but that’s didn’t end up being the case. After the McNeese game, Wilson stopped showing up on the Gators travel roster and played in very few games in 2023.

DL Will Norman

DL Will Norman is entering the transfer portal. Norman appeared sparingly for the Gators this season, but his departure is a minor blow to the interior depth of the defensive line room for the Gators.

QB Max Brown

Florida Gators quarterback Max Brown (17) – Maddie Washburn/Florida Athletics

QB Max Brown is entering the transfer portal after making his first career start for the Gators to end the season and appearing in relief of starting quarterback Graham Mertz against Missouri. Brown has some arm talent, which he displayed in the first half against Florida State, and has the ability to run, so it won’t be long before Brown has a new home.

WR Caleb Douglas

Florida Gators wide receiver Caleb Douglas (4) – Molly Kaiser/Florida Athletics

QR Caleb Douglas was set to have a breakout sophomore season for the Gators and unfortunately was injured against Kentucky and never played again for the Gators this past season. Douglas is now in the transfer portal after recoding 21 catches for 308 yards and two touchdowns in 13 games across two seasons for the Gators.

WR Thai Bowman

Reserve wide receiver Thai Bowman is leaving the Gators after appearing in 12 games in 2022 and just two in 2023.

JUCO DL Keenan Landry

JUCO transfer defensive lineman Keenan Landry is leaving the Gators after appearing in just three total games across two seasons.

TE Andrew Savaiinaea

TE Andrew Savaiinaea is leaving the Gators after making just one appearance for the Gators over two seasons. Savaiinaea redshirted in 2022 and made his lone appearance against Charlotte this past season against Charlotte.

DL Chris McClellan

Florida Gators defensive lineman Chris McClellan (7) – Mallory Peak/Florida Athletics

Defensive tackle Chris McClellan, who committed to the Gators before head coach Billy Napier was even signed on to be the Gators next head coach, is entering the transfer portal. This is one of the biggest losses the Gators have had to the transfer portal as McClellan was a key depth player at defensive tackle for the Gators the past two seasons. McClellan appeared in every game for the Gators the last two seasons, recording 46 total tackles, two sacks and a fumble recovery.

OL Jalen Farmer

Florida offensive lineman Jalen Farmer is officially in the transfer portal. Farmer appeared in four total games for the Gators and redshirted in 2022.

RB Carlson Joseph

Florida RB Carlson Joseph is entering the transfer portal. Joseph appeared in just two games for the Gators across two seasons, rushing for 20 total yards on five total carries.

Center Kingsley Eguakun declares for the 2024 NFL Draft

Florida Gators center Kingsley Eguakun (65) – Mallory Peak/Florida Gators Athletics

He’s not transferring out of the program, but Gators center Kingsley Eguakun, who played off and on this past season whilst battling a foot injury, has officially declared for the 2024 NFL Draft. Eguakun was a three-yard starter at center for the Gators, starting in every game in 2021 and 2022 before only starting in four games in 2023.
