National Signing Day was officially here. Coach Brown and his staff have used their recruiting gifts to start changing the narrative of players wanting to come to play for Syracuse football and also help build the program into a Northeast version of Georgia.

While the staff already has grabbed so many quality prospects, not all of them can be highlighted, so we’re only going to highlight the best four that fit this story.

Syracuse Football Picks Up Great Number of Commits on National Signing Day

Here are the top four recruits that could highlight a sneak preview of what they might bring to the 315 in the first year under a new coaching staff.

Syracuse 2024 commit LB Fatim Diggs (10) – si.com

1. Fatim Diggs – (LB) / Eastside High School, (Camden NJ)

The little brother of now current Syracuse football transfer from Texas A&M, Fadil Diggs. Fatim seems a bit underrated as a 3-star (LB) prospect from Camden NJ (Coach Brown’s hometown). The 6’3″, 220 lb., pass rusher is speedy and athletic.

Much like his brother, he can create havoc for the quarterback when blitzing off the edge. Syracuse football beat out some big power five schools like Penn State which is now one of Syracuse football’s main competitors now for grabbing recruits in the Garden State.

2. Jakhari Williams – (QB) / First Presbyterian Day School, (Macon, GA) – “3-star commit under Dino Babers”

Originally committed to the class by former head coach Dino Babers, Williams is an excellent dual-threat quarterback who has four-star talent written all over him.

The multi-faceted athlete may only be 6′ 3″, 190 lbs., but his strong arm and running capabilities make him a threat in this offense. Plus, he’s another recruit from the Peach State coach Brown will still be able to retain in his first official recruiting class.

3. Caden Brown – (DE) / Erasmus Mill High School (Brooklyn, NY)

There is a ton of talent with Brown and his commitment, as deep historic routes run to his family bloodline and the fact he’s the number four prospect in New York doesn’t hurt either.

Brown’s father, Alban played for the Cuse from 1987-1989. Now, Caden will look to carve his own legacy for Syracuse football.   At 6′ 3″, 210 lbs., the (DE) will most likely switch to linebacker in college as he is too undersized to play defensive end at Syracuse football.

Still, Brown possess freak speed and quickness for a pass rusher and will look to wreck havoc getting into the first level of the opposing offensive line and into the backfield.

Syracuse 2024 commit DE KingJoseph Edwards (19) – si.com

4. KingJoseph Edwards – (DE) / Mill Creek High School (Hoschton GA) – “4 star original commit”

While this is certainly not a flip by any means, this is probably the biggest recruiting win on paper so far for Coach Brown and his staff for Syracuse football. Despite only being 6’4″, 230 lbs., Edwards is explosive at the line of scrimmage and has a tremendous quick first step.

The monster athlete also has quick last steps as well and has natural pass rushing skills to go with his speed and athleticism. Look for Edwards to line up as a (DE) in a four down linemen front or (OLB) in a three man formation.

Any way you put it, Edwards is the first big d-linemen commit for the new defensive scheme under Coach Robinson. Their main priority is getting after the quarterback, but also improving on Syracuse football’s biggest weakness under Rocky Long’s 3-3-5 scheme, which is stopping the run.

What’s More To Come?

While this article only highlights four of some of the important signing day commits, there are many more still to come, even after signing day is over.
