Barring any trades, here is the 7-round mock draft for the Seattle Seahawks.
Mock Draft Round 1
Pick 5
Jalen Carter (DT) – Georgia Bulldog
The Seahawks have taken some real characters in the past and have helped them keep their nose clean. Jalen Carter’s past has nothing on Pete Carroll’s dad jokes and overly positive encouragement style.
Seattle desperately needs some more momentum in this position, and the second-highest PFF-rated DT since 2014 at 92.3 is nothing to sneeze at.
Pick 20
O’Cyrus Torrence (G) – Florida Gator
The Hawks have brought in some talented players during free agency in the guard position. However, it would make sense for them to sign a new, young, talented player to complement the current well-seasoned players.
Torrence isn’t someone to look over either, even if the guard position was fully stacked. O’Cyrus is the best guard prospect in the draft and is a force to be reckoned with at 6’5′ and 347 pounds.
Mock Draft Round 2
Pick 37
Hendon Hooker (QB) – Tennessee Volunteer
Geno Smith is our QB of the present, but he isn’t a spring chicken and will need a replacement in the near future.
Hendon is positively geriatric, entering the draft (25 years old), and is suffering from a serious knee injury. He’s a perfect fit for Seattle, who transformed an underdog QB draft pick into a future HOF inductee once and likely would enjoy trying again.
Pick 52
John Michael Schmitz (C) – Minnesota Golden Gopher
Evan Brown was a great choice to sign a contract with during free agency. However, Brown doesn’t have much longer in his career before he hangs up the ol’ cleats.
The Seahawks have shown a lot of interest in Schmitz, and he would be the perfect addition as the center. Evan was the highest-rated center in the FBS this past season.
Mock Draft Round 3
Pick 83
Trenton Simpson (DE) – Clemson Tiger
One of the biggest concerns for the Seattle Seahawks is their total lack of DEs going into the 2023 season. It’s one of the top needs for the team.
Trenton is a talented linebacker who does everything he is asked of and then some. Simpson has shown growth over his years and has solid stats, making him an easy round 3 draft pick.
Mock Draft Round 4
Pick 123
Deuce Vaughn (RB) – Kansas State Wildcat
Last year the Hawks were low on capable RBs that were plagued with injury. It’s going to be critical to get enough representation in this position so Geno Smith can actually consider running the ball as a viable option.
Deuce is another short guy – we’re the same height. But he is quicker and can weave through people with his agility and small size. Vaughn plays with heart and would be a positive addition to the locker room.
Mock Draft Round 5
Pick 151
Ivan Pace Jr (LB/DE) – Cincinnati Bearcat
Seattle has some incredible talent in the linebacker position (welcome back, Bobby Wagner!) with some excellent picks from the 2022 draft. However, there are many veteran starters, and we are heading into 2023 with some injuries already.
Ivan is a little petite for the role, but players often make up for size with talent and toughness. That describes Ivan Pace Jr to the tee. He would play his heart out for the Hawks and would be an excellent addition.
Pick 154
Zack Kuntz (TE) – Old Dominion Monarch
Some Seahawks fans may feel there is enough strength in the TE area – I am not one of them. We have mid-level talent at this position if we’re being optimistic.
Kuntz’s contributions were limited when he was at Penn State, but his transfer to Old Dominion allowed him to spread his wings and sort of fly, showing us what he is made of. He may not be the answer, but he is a low-risk option that may do just the trick.
Mock Draft Round 6
Pick 198
Isaiah Land (LB/ED) – FAMU Rattler (HBCU’s represent!)
There is a demonstrated need for linebackers for the Seahawks this draft.
Isaiah Land is an ideal choice as he has shown solid consistency and has experience as a linebacker and an edge which is an ideal skillset for a team who needs help in both areas.
Mock Draft Round 7
Pick 237
Ikenna Enechukwu (DE/ED) – Rice Owl
Dre’Mont Jones is new to the Seahawks team, and Jarran Reed hasn’t played for us in a while. There needs to be a talented backup for players ready to jump into the defensive scheme.
What Ikenna doesn’t have stats-wise, he makes up for with a positive attitude, effort, and competitive spirit—all things we need at the DE position.
