The San Francisco 49ers are now 5-1 after a rough loss against the Cleveland Browns. This is the first loss of the season after a rough go by the 49ers’ offense with a final score of 19-17. Between the two teams going at it pre-kickoff, rain, and numerous injuries, it was not a great game for San Francisco. Here is a look at the San Francisco 49ers players who still stood out, and those who need to step up next week.

San Francisco 49ers Slay

Nick Bosa

Defensive end, Nick Bosa played well for the 49ers despite the loss. Bosa put pressure on the Browns’ offense as much as he could and made some key stops. By the end of the game, Bosa had one sack, two quarterback hits, and one tackle for loss, according to ESPN. He also had one pass deflection, that would have been a pick-six if he were able to grab it. Either way, it was a big play for the 49ers’ defense.

Deommodore Lenoir

Credit needs to be given to cornerback Deommodore Lenoir. He may have made some mistakes this season, but he stepped up big time when he needed to. Right when the 49ers needed something, Lenoir caught the interception, which led to a 49ers touchdown when the offense got on the field. Of course, San Francisco still lost, but Lenoir’s interception gave them the chance that they needed.

Aside from the interception, Lenoir had five combined tackles, four of which were solo, according to ESPN. While numerous players from the 49ers’ defense could be highlighted, Lenoir’s play was a game-changer. It is unfortunate that the team could not get the win, but he gave them a fighting chance.

Jake Moody

This was definitely a rough game for the 49ers’ rookie, and it is safe to say everyone could see that. He did not miss one field goal in the game, he missed two. While the first one could be blamed on the weather, when he had the chance to redeem himself, the 49ers’ kicker, Jake Moody, could not do it. Following the game, Moody obviously stated he wished he could do it again. Moody will have to clear his head, move on, and focus on next week’s game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Brock Purdy/Offensive Line

It depends on who you ask, but they will either say the offensive line lost the team the game, or it was quarterback Brock Purdy. Right now, they are going to be lumped together. Purdy was under pressure for the entire game, sacked three times, according to ESPN. With little time to throw the ball, plus injuries to Deebo Samuel and Christian McCaffrey, there was not much Purdy could have done. There were also penalties on the offensive line which stopped any chance of gaining momentum on offense.

Purdy also was called for intentional grounding late in the fourth quarter which hurt the team. By the end of the game, Purdy completed 12 passes out of 27 attempts for one touchdown and one interception, according to ESPN. This could definitely be considered Purdy’s worst game of his career, and something that he will need to bounce back from. Hopefully, he and the offensive line can step up next weekend.

The extent of the injuries will be known more on Monday. The team gets an added day of rest as the San Francisco 49ers will face the Minnesota Vikings for Monday Night Football. This will be a big matchup, as an away game for the 49ers, and a test to see how they bounce back from a tough loss. The players were brutally honest about the game, and now the focus is on next week.
