The 2023 NFL Draft begins April 27th, but before that begins, here is a full San Francisco 49ers 7-round mock draft. The 49ers do not pick until the third round with the 99th overall pick. The team’s top needs are an offensive tackle, an edge rusher, and a kicker. There are also positions such as tight end where the team could use a strong new player to fall to them. Here is a full 49ers 7-round mock draft.
49ers 7-Round Mock Draft
Before this begins, there will be no trades involved. This will purely be based on who can possibly fall to each pick.
Round 3 Pick 99- K.J. Henry – DE
While the San Francisco 49ers have a dominant defensive line, there is a solid chance that the 49ers will select K.J. Henry. Henry is a defensive end from Clemson and should fall to the 99th overall pick. This 49ers 7-round mock draft does not include trades, so the first pick has to be the best player among the needed positions. Currently, Drake Jackson is the projected starter, but Henry could take that spot. The team does need depth on the edge, especially after losing Charles Omenihu in free agency, who was a starter in 2022.
Round 3 Pick 101- Warren McClendon – OT
There is a solid chance that offensive tackle Warren McClendon can fall to pick 101 in the NFL Draft. If the 49ers feel they need to trade up, they have enough draft picks that they can, but even in this no-trade 49ers 7-round mock, McClendon could fall. San Francisco recently lost right tackle Mike McGlinchey in free agency. Despite re-signing Colton McKivitz, there is room for competition for the starting spot. McClendon would be a strong competition to become a starter if the 49ers can draft him,
Round 3 Pick 102- Zack Kuntz – TE
With the next pick in the 2023 49ers 7-round mock draft, San Francisco can select Zack Kuntz, a tight end from Old Dominion. The 49ers have been eying a tight end to pair with George Kittle. Based on there being no trades in this 49ers 7th-round mock draft, it has to be realistic which tight end would fall to pick 102. Kuntz is six feet eight inches, and with the idea that he does not have to be the main guy, the 49ers can mold him into the tight end they need.
The 49ers will also have Charlie Woerner and Ross Dwelley returning to the team, giving Kuntz time to be molded into what they need while also being pushed to compete for a roster spot.
Round 5 Pick 155- Ji’Ayir Brown – S
There is a solid chance that the former Penn State Nittany Lion, Ji’Ayir Brown, can fall to the 49ers’ 155th pick. While the 49ers have two strong safeties with Talanoa Hufanga and Tashaun Gipson, Brown is a player that can fit right in with them. With Jimmie Ward heading to the Houston Texans, the team has signed a couple of free agents who can compete for a roster spot.
Brown is a player who has the ability to jump right in with them and play at a high level. In the fifth round, Brown is not a risk but could be another late-round gem.
Round 5 Pick 164- Alex Austin – CB
The cornerback position is always helpful to stack when it comes to the 49ers. Alex Austin, from Oregon State, would be a safe player that will fall to San Francisco. Despite the idea that whatever cornerback is picked will not be a starter, Austin would be a solid depth piece on the roster and potentially move to a starter with time.
Round 5 Pick 173- Ronnie Bell – WR
If Michigan wide receiver Ronnie Bell falls to the final pick that the 49ers have in the fifth round, there is a solid chance the team will grab him. While the team does need other positions more than wide receiver, barring any injuries, this position is always a need. San Francisco also held a private workout with Bell, which shows they do have interest in the receiver.
Round 6 Pick 216- Jake Moody – K
While this may be a little early, without trades in this 49ers 7-round mock draft, better safe than sorry. San Francisco may need to trade up a bit to get the Michigan Kicker, Jake Moody. There is a solid chance that he can fall to the sixth round, though, as kickers tend to fall down a bit further. Moody would be a valuable replacement for Robbie Gould and a solid camp competition for Zane Gonzalez.
Round 7 Pick 222- Chris Rodriguez Jr. – RB
By the time the seventh round hits, it will most likely be a take-the-best player that is left scenario. It would not be a 49ers 7-round mock without a running back being taken. While it is a little late compared to most years where San Francisco takes a running back in the third round, Chris Rodriguez Jr could be taken with the 222nd overall pick. Rodriguez is from the University of Kentucky and even if he is a late pick, there is always a chance for running backs to make the roster on this 49ers offense.
Round 7 Pick 247- Ventrell Miller – LB
With the loss of Azeez Al-Shaair, the 49ers could select Ventrell Miller, a linebacker from Florida. Miller would most likely take a special teams role if he were to make the final roster, or he could be a solid practice squad player to be pulled up in case of injuries. The 49ers have always done well when developing linebackers, and Miller could be the next one based on this 49ers 7-round mock draft.
Round 7 Pick 253 – Rakim Jarrett – WR
This 49ers 7-round mock draft does not have trades, so if the team still has the 253rd pick during the draft, this mock has them selecting Rakim Jarrett from Maryland. Jarrett played in 11 games during 2022 and should be able to fall to San Francisco’s late pick. Maryland had health issues at quarterback, which could have held Jarrett back a bit, but it could be a reason he falls to the 49ers.
Round 7 Pick 255- Brodric Martin – DT
As much as most would say a pick this late in the seventh round does not matter, it did last year when the 49ers selected quarterback Brock Purdy in 2022, so who knows what can happen at this point in the draft. This 49ers 7-round mock has the 49ers selecting Brodric Martin from Western Kentucky. Martin would just be another depth piece to the defensive line but could develop into a future player.
The odds that the 49ers trade up in this draft are high with four seventh-round picks. This 49ers 7-round mock draft may not have involved trades but provides a solid idea as to what the team is looking for in this year’s NFL draft.
