Ravens Sign Laquon Treadwell

The Baltimore Ravens are adding to their wide receiver room with the signing of Laquon Treadwell. Treadwell joins a Ravens squad that is currently diversifying their pass-catching unit, which already includes Odell Beckham Jr., who was signed in April, third-year wide receiver Rashod Bateman, veteran pass catcher Nelson Agholor, and tight end Mark Andrews.

Treadwell’s Recent Stops

Treadwell has bounced around the league, having stints with the Atlanta Falcons, Jacksonville Jaguars, Arizona Cardinals, and most recently, the Seattle Seahawks.

Treadwell was on the Seahawk’s practice squad before getting promoted to the active roster.  He was signed to the active roster after Tyler Lockett went down with a hand injury.  Treadwell played in six games for the Seahawks last season, where he caught six receptions for 42 yards but did not score any touchdowns.

One thing of note:  Treadwell has been in a scoring drought, not scoring a touchdown since 2021 when he was with the Jaguars.  Treadwell caught 33 receptions for 434 yards during his time in Duvalle County.

To make this selection work, the Ravens did have to make room for Treadwell by releasing undrafted quarterback Nolan Henderson.

Although he hasn’t scored many touchdowns in the league (Treadwell scored five touchdowns as of this article), signing Treadwellbolsters the Ravens’ receiver core-giving the team added safeguards for any possible injuries and providing mentorship and experience to the younger receivers on the roster.  They also accomplish rounding out the receiver core as the Ravens look for improvements during the regular season.

The only time Treadwell scored multiple touchdowns in a season was with the Atlanta Falcons back in 2020, where he caught five receptions for 49 yards and scored two touchdowns that year.

Will this be the year Treadwell scores his first touchdown since 2021?  Only time will tell for Baltimore when the regular season begins on September 7th.
