With the NFL offseason underway and the draft coming in April, the New York Giants projected starters are taking shape.  For the Giants’ offensive starters, the team will have an overhaul of their receiving core with new weapons for 2023. Among the changes in wideouts for the offense are new names in the tight end position for the Giants. Along with the overhaul in offense, the New York Giants retooled their defensive secondary for the upcoming season. New York also lost some offensive linemen and hoped to fix it in the upcoming NFL draft. The projected starters for the defensive line would be the same, with the core intact. New York projected starters look to be a contender in 2023.

Offensive Projected Starters

Quarterback

QB Daniel Jones

The projected New York Giants starter for the quarterback will be Daniel Jones for his fifth year. New York signed Daniel Jones to a four-year deal for 160 million dollars, stabilizing the quarterback situation for the team. With a breakout season and a playoff win against the Minnesota Vikings, New York signed Jones hoping to contend. The Giants hope Daniel Jones continues his ascension in 2023 with a new contract and weapons for the upcoming season.

Offensive Line

LT Andrew Thomas, RT Evan Neal, LG Ben Bredeson, RG Mark Glowinski, C Shane Lemieux: Questionable due to injury.

Daniel Jones will be protected by some of the same starters in the offensive line. The right and left offensive tackles will be Andrew Thomas for the fourth year with 2nd year tackle Evan Neal. Evan Neal, after having a rough 2022 season, hopes to improve and become a good tackle for the Giants. Along with the two tackles are the starting guards Ben Bredeson, Shane Lemieux, and Mark Glowinski with some depth. New York could also use Lemieux as a starting offensive center. The Giants need to improve on guard and center due to some of their former starters leaving. New York projected starting offensive line beside the tackles looks weak but can be improved.

Running Back

RB Saquon Barkley  

New York’s offensive line needs to be strong; for star running back Saquon Barkley for the 2023 season. After a comeback season in 2022, Barkley hopes to continue his remarkable run in 2023. Saquon Barkley, since 2018 is again the starting running back for the Giants since the team franchise tagged him. When healthy, Saquon Barkley is a dynamic player for the team that could help them in the long term. With a healthy Barkley, the Giants’ running game could be fantastic to see for Giants fans.

Tight End

TE1: Darren Waller, TE2: Daniel Bellinger

New York, doing the offseason, has also improved with their tight end position by trading for star Darren Waller. Waller, in his 8th season, will be a projected starter for the Giants’ tight end position. Darren Waller, while having injuries in the past, hopes to improve the Giants’ tight end position with backup Daniel Bellinger. Bellinger, while having a decent rookie season, could be a solid backup and second tight end for the Giants’ offense.

Wide Receiver

WR1: Isaiah Hodgins, WR2: Darius Slayton, WR3 Parris Campbell, WR4 Sterling Shepard

The Giants, during this offseason, improve the receiver core by keeping Isaiah Hodgins, Sterling Shepard, and Darius Slayton for 2023. Along with keeping last year’s receivers, the Giants signed Parris Campbell for depth. The projected starters for the receivers will be Campbell, Hodgins, Slayton, and Shepard for 2023. The Giants also have Wan’Dale Robinson recovering from injury last year and signed Jamison Crowder for depth. New York has the starters to help Daniel Jones for 2023 and hopes to gain traction in the NFC.

Defensive Projected Starters

Defensive Line

DT: Dexter Lawrence, DT: Rakeem Nunez-Roches, DT: Leonard Williams

For the New York Giants’ defensive starters, the defensive line of Dexter Lawrence, Jihad Ward, and Leonard Williams. Dexter Lawrence has been a stable nose tackle for the Giants since 2019, hoping to continue after an all-pro 2022. Along with Lawrence, Leonard Williams is a good piece of the defense, and his veteran presence can help the team. On the left defensive end is Jihad Ward, who is in his second year with the Giants. New York’s defensive line could be a threat in the NFC. New York has also brought in Rakeem Nunez-Roches for depth in the tackle position.

Linebacker

LB: Bobby Okereke, LB: Jarrad Davis, OLB: Azeez Ojulari, OLB: Kayvon Thibodeaux

Along with the defensive line is the Giants’ linebacker core for 2023. The projected starting linebackers for the Giants would be the same as Azeez Ojulari and Kayvon Thibodeaux as the leads. Thibodeaux, after a decent rookie season, could make an impact in his second year. Azeez Ojulari, despite an injury-riddled 2022, has done well for the team and hopes to contribute. Along with the outside linebacker starters are the Giants, signing a new inside linebacker Bobby Okereke to start. New York also assigned veteran Jarrad Davis as a projected starter in hopes of stepping up this year. New York’s projected starting linebackers could be a critical part of the defense in 2023.

Safety

S: Xavier McKinney, S Jason Pinnock, S Dane Belton

The New York Giants’ starters for strong and forward safeties could be an issue for the team, but the starters are intriguing. The starting strong safety for the team could be Jason Pinnock, after being a backup last year. Pinnock could be an essential piece of the Giants’ defense after a decent year with the team in 2022. The forward safety for the Giants will be Xavier McKinney, who will be with the team for four years. New York could also have Dane Belton for the safety position if one of them gets injured.

Cornerback

CB: Adoree’ Jackson, CB: Aaron Robinson, CB: Bobby McCain, CB: Cordale Flott, CB: Darnay Holmes

The New York Giants starters for defensive corners will be fun with a mixture of veterans and second-year players. For the starting corners, the Giants are putting Bobby McCain on the right corner due to being a veteran in the secondary. New York could also put Aaron Robinson in the corner spot for the team. Along with McCain, the Giants will have starting corner Adoree Jackson on the left corner for the secondary. New York will also have Cordale Flott and Darnay Holmes in the secondary. 

These could be the projected starters for the 2023 New York Giants. The New York Giants starters, while still having flaws, could be competitive for the 2023 season. New York’s offense, while imperfect, could be good for the team and against the NFC. The defense is also flawed but will need to improve to be a threat to the NFC. This Giants team, projected starters, looks to be an improved team, hoping to compete in the NFC in 2023.
