The Pittsburgh Steelers remain one of the better rosters in the league. Almost every position they have exercised has a lot of talent or potential, but that does not mean a few tweaks would go a long way. However, the Steelers are one of the more conservative front offices in the league, and, likely, these trades would not go down. But that does not mean we can not fantasize! And with $15M in their cap space, the Steelers are ready to make some moves. Could the Steelers try their luck at these three players, or has the best of their offseason already happened?

#1: Chase Young, DE, Commanders

I don’t ever wanna lose enough games to get a guy like you” is a quote Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has said to Chase Young during a 2020 contest against the Commanders, and if the Steelers decide to go all in on Young, Tomlin would not have to!

A heavily rumored trade that could come true is the Steelers making a deal with the Commanders for Chase Young. Young’s first season showed why he went second overall in 2020, but it hasn’t been smooth sailing since then with the injury bug has been hitting Young like he does QBs, and as a result, he has only played 12 games since his rookie year. But with the defensive line wisdom of Cameron Heyward and the lack of playmakers besides Heyward on the D-line side, Young could be a massive addition to an already dangerous Steelers defense!

#2: Budda Baker, S, Arizona Cardinals:

Many people can see Baker going to Pittsburgh, especially since Mike Tomlin is a big fan of his. The Baker and Minkah Fitzpatrick duo could be deadly to opposing offenses and make the secondary even better! Even with the acquired Keanu Neal and the resigned Damontae Kazee, they will be more of a rotation than starters. And it makes it even more must-see knowing Baker wants out of Arizona. But the Cardinals will not let him go quickly; they will want a good value for him. Would the Steelers be able to finesse their former Super Bowl opponent they bested in 2009, or will the Cardinals keep a disgruntled Baker? Gordan Ramsey sure wouldn’t!

#3: Terence Steele, OT, Dallas Cowboys:

The Steelers could steal Steele (say that five times fast) from the Cowboys and possibly complete the offensive tackle struggles once and for all! Steele is still young at 26, good at his job, and only allowed one sack last year. But if the Steelers want to get this man, they need to do it soon because the Cowboys are also starting to realize his value, but it may have gone down due to his ACL tear last year. Now is the perfect time to strike the iron while it is hot and get the final piece of the puzzle for the offensive line and has even caught a touchdown before, so some trick plays could be in order!

These three NFC players could make the Steelers a legit contender for long-term success, with all three candidates not older than 27. The Steelers still have a long way to go before they can be classified as Super Bowl favorites, with their division rival, the Cincinnati Bengals, being elite competition in an already stacked AFC North, with the Baltimore Ravens re-signing Lamar Jackson and the Cleveland Browns being smart with their draftees; will the Steelers make these trades a reality? Or will they go the free agency route which you can read about right here:
