In a classic NFC East heavyweight bout where both teams were trading blows all game, the Philadelphia Eagles eked out a narrow 3-point win against the Washington Commanders. Funny enough, the offense picked a good time to have its best game as the defense decided to have its worst game. The game of the week candidate had plenty of stars who shined bright and carried the team to victory. While some burned out and held the team back from achieving a more comfortable result. Who were they? Let’s talk about it in this week’s edition of Slays and Bombs.

Eagles Week 4: BOMBS

Terrell Edmunds

4 Eagles Starters Who Will Get Benched this Season - Page 2

Outside of being involved in Justin Jefferson’s goal-line fumble, Terrell Edmunds hasn’t really been impactful as a player fighting for a permanent starter spot. Unfortunately, he made too many plays that made this game closer than what it needed to be. Most noticeably a dropped interception in the endzone and a crucial late hit penalty on 3rd down that led to a touchdown.

Outside of those two blunders, he hasn’t made any noise on defense and, at this point, is a liability. If Edmunds continues to disappoint like this, don’t be surprised to see him get demoted in favor of our third-round rookie safety, Sydney Brown. Or get replaced by a proven veteran before the trade deadline.

Landon Dickerson

The usually reliable Right Guard had an off day against an albeit elite Commanders defensive line. Not only allowing a sack but picking up a few costly penalties as well. Landon is a good lineman, and I don’t expect to be in the bomb category very often.

Eagles week 4: SLAYS

Jalen Hurts

It took a while, but Jalen finally put together a full game where he was consistently great throughout all four quarters. Very few mistakes and plenty of impactful throws throughout the entire game that kept the contest close with no turnovers, their first turnover-free game of the season.

The Eagles quarterback recorded his first 100+ passer rating, 300-yard game, and multi-touchdown game all at once against their divisional foe in a nailbiter that included two beautiful touchdown passes to A.J. Brown. Similar to last year, this is the first time Jalen Hurts accomplished all three feats in the season against the same opponent around the same time of the year.

Nicolas Marrow

Nicholas Morrow’s breakout game couldn’t have come at a better time. The former practice squad Eagles made his presence known in a defense that was struggling to contain Sam Howell and Brian Robinson.

The defense as a whole was inconsistent at best, making plays and giving up big ones on every other drive. But Nicholas Morrow stood out as a big difference maker both on the ground and in the air, getting 11 tackles, including a tackle for loss, three sacks, and a forced fumble.

The linebacker core, in general, has shined throughout the first quarter of the season as tackles at or behind the Line of Scrimmage is a common occurrence in this defense and are the most underrated reason why this defense is doing enough to secure victories.

AJ Brown

After A.J. Brown’s brief but turbulent back and forth with his friend Jalen and coach Sirianni on Thursday Night against the Vikings, many were wondering when his time would come to stamp his authority in a game. Like with Marrow and Hurts, it came at the most opportune time as the Eagles needed all of his 175 yards and two touchdowns to get the OT win.

This game can be seen as redemption as despite having another 100-yard game the previous week, the receiver also dropped two would-be touchdowns.
