The New York Jets concluded the 2023-2024 NFL season on a positive note by winning against the New England Patriots 17-3. Gotham City played well in Week 18 against Bill Belichick’s Patriots, who finished 4-13 and last in the AFC East. The Jets had 254 offensive yards on Sunday, but most of the yards came on the ground as the Jets’ passing game suffered most of the season.

Despite a disappointing season in which the Jets will miss the playoffs, the Jets were able to finish 7-10 and 4th overall in their division. Week 18 was another excellent matchup for the Jets despite facing a depleted Patriots team. It was a tough season for Gotham City once veteran QB Aaron Rodgers suffered an Achilles injury in his first game.

New York Jets Slay

New York Jets RB Breece Hall Slays in Week 18 with 37 carries for 178 yards and 1 rushing touchdown while adding 2 catches for 12 yards against New England. Hall displayed his elite skill set on Sunday by leading the Jets to victory with his performance. Hall has established himself as the most talented player on the Jets rusher a year after suffering from a season-ending ACL tear his rookie season. The star running back will be a crucial focus heading into next season, as the Jets expect players such as Aaron Rodgers and Garrett Wilson to impact offense significantly.

The New York Jets defensive unit slays in Week 18 again by limiting the New England Patriots to 119 yards of total offense on Sunday. Stellar performances from players like DL Quinnen Williams with 2.0, LB Bryce Huff with 2.0 sacks, and Jermaine Johnson with 1.0 sacks have been the usual players responsible for an outstanding New York Jets defense this season. Limiting the New England Patriots to 3 points in Week 18 is a reminder of their Pro Bowl season performances.

New York Jets kicker Greg Zuerlein slays in Week 18 with another clutch performance on Sunday’s matchup against the Patriots. The veteran Kicker connected on his extra point conversion and 3 of 4 field goal attempts with his longest kick from 40 yards away. Zuerlein has consistently performed for the Jets, allowing his team to remain competitive in close games this season. Zurlein is a valuable asset that should remain an essential piece for the Jets next season.

New York Jets Bomb

Jets QB Trevor Siemian bombs in Week 18 against New England with 8 completions on 20 attempts for 70 yards and 0 touchdowns. With Starter Zach Wilsons exiting Week 15 with a concussion, the Jets decided to sit Wilson for the final 3 weeks of the season. Siemian was never supposed to be the solution under center for the Jets, but with Wilson’s uninspiring performances this season, Siemian earned playing time. Siemian could not generate offense with the opportunity, especially with a weak offensive line allowing defensive pressure on each down.

New York Jets WR Garrett Wilson bombs in his Week 18 matchup against the New England Patriots. Wilson had 2 receptions for an underwhelming 34 yards and 0 touchdowns on Sunday. Wilson, however, is not to blame for his lackluster performances this season. The inconsistent performances of Jets QBs like Zach Wilson and Trevor Siemian greatly impacted the Jets’ receivers and overall offensive output.

WR Garrett Wilson finishes this season with a solid 1,042 yards on 95 receptions and 3 touchdowns. Despite being displeased with his numbers, calling it the “worst of his life,” Wilson remains a top-10 receiver heading into next season.

The New York Jets failed to secure a playoff spot this season, and Aaron Rodgers’ season-ending injury impacted a stellar offense that was projected to make a Superbowl run. Although the Jets did not have a winning season, head coach Robert Saleh managed the team well. Losing vital players such as Rodgers was difficult, and finding a replacement for Rodgers became a nightmare.

Although Saleh faced adversity this season, with many NFL analysts questioning if he’s the right guy for the job, Saleh and his coaching staff remained competitive each week and won against complex teams.“Robert is the right coach because he is the right man for the job,” general manager Joe Douglas said. “I love his energy; he is the right man for this job. I have zero doubts about that.”

The Jets, however, are focused on the draft to address a depleted offensive line and other positions like a wide receiver to help take attention off Wilson. With a healthy Aaron Rodgers under center for next season, the New York Jets will be the team to monitor once again in their journey to reclaim championship glory.
