The NFL Draft is next Thursday through Saturday. It will be time to see where all the top names in college football will continue their careers. This is a great time for people to make predictions for their team or favorite college football star. This seven-round mock draft will be from the draft network on who the Kansas City Chiefs might pick up next week.

Team Needs

The Chiefs have some holes to fill after their Super Bowl Victory season. They will need to add an offensive lineman, a wide receiver, a defensive lineman, a defensive back, and a running back. Some of these they may want to trade for so they have an idea of how they play in the league, but others they can pick up in the draft.

Mock Draft

Round 1 Pick 32 Dawand Jones OT Ohio State

Chiefs Draft

Jones is 6’8 and 374 lbs; he will be one of the biggest players to be drafted this season. He has been compared to Orlando Brown, Trent Brown, and Rob Havenstein who are some other large tackles in the league. Jones would be a great fit for the Chiefs, as his size isn’t the only thing that he will bring to the table. He has amazing athleticism coming out of Ohio State.

In his time with Ohio State, he played in 31 games; in those games, he allowed 12 quarterback hurries, one quarterback hit, and four sacks. This is huge for a lineman who played over 1,000 snaps in his career. Not many offensive linemen have that stat line or the skill to stop defenses as he has.

Round 2 Pick 64 Cedric Tillman WR Tennessee

Cedric Tillman

Cedric Tillman is 6’3 and 215 lbs; he is a big-bodied wide receiver coming out of Tennessee. He has great size, speed, and hands. Tillman is also coming off a record-setting season for the Volunteers. Tillman had a 1,000-yard receiver and set the program record for touchdowns in consecutive games. He could be a good fit for the Chiefs as they like their bigger receivers with great hands.

Tillman played in 42 games in Tennessee. In his career, he has averaged over 10 yards per catch and 17 touchdowns. He only played in six games this past season due to an ankle injury. This ankle injury shouldn’t shy away from any team, though, as he looked fully healthy at the combine and the Reece’s Senior Bowl.

Round 3 Pick 96 Keondre Coburn IDL Texas

Chiefs Draft

Former Texas DT Keondre Coburn (99) – Mikala Compton American Statesman

Keondre Coburn is 6’2 and 332 lbs and is on the smaller end of the linemen in the NFL. His size will come into play when teams look at him for a potential draft pick. Coburn is a better rush-defensive player and will also have a harder time making it past those big offensive lines in the league. He will have some work to do if the Chiefs pick him up.

Coburn played in 50 games for the Texas Longhorns. In his time in Texas, he had 2.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, 27 tackles, and 11 solo tackles. He is great at reacting to the play and getting to the football. Coburn is a great secondary pass rush and a strong tackler. This 3rd round pick for the Chiefs would be a good one as he could grow and learn from the other defensive linemen currently on the team.

Round 4 Pick 123 Brandon Hill S Pittsburgh

Former Pitt S Brandon Hill (9) – Chaz Palla Tribune-Review

Brandon Hill is 5’10 and 193 lbs and definitely on the small end as an NFL player. His size will be something to consider as Day 3 comes around because the smaller ones may not even get picked up. Hill has quick feet and is a big hitter. He is great at not getting penalties as he gets his head around and is great at tracking the ball.

Hill played in 37 games as a Panther. When on the field, he had 67 tackles and zero interceptions. That may be a struggle as a Chief safety, as those guys are all over the field and always hungry for interceptions. He would be a big project for the Chiefs and most likely wouldn’t see any playing time this first year.

Round 4 Pick 135 Mike Morris EDGE Michigan

Mike Morris is 6’5 and 275 lbs; he is a great size for a DE or LB in the NFL. He is great at getting to the quarterback and has long arms. Morris is a good instinctive player who has played a little bit of everything. The Chiefs could use him as a linebacker but would hang out more around the line than in the backfield.

Morris played in just 26 games as a Wolverine. In those 26 games, he had seven sacks; one forced fumble, 23 tackles, and 16 solo tackles. Morris has quick and agile feet, which will be great as he will get off the line faster and more efficiently

Round 5 Pick 168 Devon Achane RB Texas AM

devon achane

Former Texas A&M RB Devon Achane (6) – Jerome Miron/USA TODAY Sports

Devon Achane is 5’8 and 188 lbs; he isn’t small for a running back. His size will be taken into consideration, but I don’t think it will stop the Chiefs from picking him up. Achane has great speed, will drop his shoulder when getting through the line, and has an excellent initial burst.

Achane played in 30 games for the Aggies. In those 30 games, he rushed for 1,102 yards, eight touchdowns, 36 receptions, and 196 receiving yards. He will fit into the Chief’s mold of running back with his size, speed, and quick bursts.

Round 6 Pick 180 Ivan Pace Jr. LB Cincinnati

Ivan Pace Jr. is 5’10 and 231 lbs; he is a smaller linebacker, but that hasn’t stopped him yet. Again his size will be something the teams look at, but the Chiefs would still pick him up. He has great instincts and a powerful lower body. He won’t be able to get by the linemen very well, so look for him to play more in the backfield as an NFL linebacker.  Pace played in 41 games for the Bearcats. He had four sacks; one forced fumble, 125 tackles, and 60 solo tackles.

Round 7 Pick 219 Cameron Mitchell CB Northwestern

Chiefs Draft

Former Northwestern CB Cameron Mitchell (2) – Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports

Cameron Mitchell is 5’11 and 191 lbs; he is an ok size for a cornerback. His ball-tracking skills and fast feet will make up for his size. He is great at high-pointing the ball and using his length to his advantage. This will be great for any team who needs a smaller cornerback. Mitchell played in 34 games for Northwestern. In those 34 games, he had one interception, seven pass deflections, 52 tackles, and 38 solo tackles.
