The Indianapolis Colts have FINALLY made some moves regarding their head coaching decision. The information came from multiple sources from across the NFL spectrum.

Indianapolis Colts Scratch Three Names off the Potential HC List

1. Giants DC Wink Martindale

Mike Silver first reported that Giants’ defensive coordinator Wink Martindale was informed by the Colts that he is no longer in the running for head coach. Martindale will most likely return to the Giants and continue working with 2023 Coach of the Year Brian Dabol. The Colts are looking for a younger football mind, and hopefully, an offensive one since all signs point to them retaining defensive coordinator Gus Bradly.

2. Bengals OC Brian Callahan

Brain Callahan, offensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals, will not be that offensive mind the Colts are looking for. Albert Beer reported that Callahan was also informed that he was out of the race. While Callahan has a good track record for productive offenses, his record is much less extensive compared to other candidates.

3. Giants OC Mike Kafka

In a seemingly final move of the morning, the Colts informed the other Giants coordinator that he is also no longer being considered for the vacant position. Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reported that Mike Kafka got the news this morning. Kafka is another great OC that apparently has been edged out by other candidates.

The list of candidates, with confirmed second interviews, is as follows: Indianapolis Colts interim head coach Jeff Saturday, Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Shane Steichen, Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris, Green Bay Packers special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia, and Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn.

Most fans and Colts content creators think Steichen and Morris are the top two choices. With the 4th overall pick in the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft, many think the Colts will go with the offensive-minded choice (Steichen) and proceed to draft their potential quarterback of the future.
