The Green Bay Packers season ended in disappointment with a loss to the Lions. They missed the playoffs and go into an offseason with a lot of questions. However, some players simply didn’t play up to their potential. Here are 3 Green Bay Packers who need to make a jump next year for the team to succeed.

Josh Myers C

Myers showed huge promise in his rookie season but dealt with some injuries. This season he struggled with any sort of consistency. It wasn’t that Myers played poorly. He was a roller coaster of good and bad play. He would show flashes of being amazing and then follow it up with poor play. David Bakhtiari and Elgton Jenkins are back to full strength and playing very well. If the Packers’ offensive line is going to return to being one of the best in the league, Myers has to step up his game.

Eric Stokes CB

Stokes had a sneaky good rookie season. After Jaire Alexander went down with an injury, Stokes was left as CB1 as a rookie. He did more than just stabilize the position, he excelled in it. There was a lot of hype coming into year two with a now healthy Alexander and Rasul Douglas sliding into the third slot. It did not go as well in his sophomore season. He got beat on multiple occasions and teams targeted him out on the field. A midseason injury cut his season short. If the Packers’ secondary is going to play at a high level, they need Stokes to play better.

Packers Week 13 Inactives: WR Romeo Doubs (ankle) out vs Bears - Acme Packing Company

Romeo Doubs WR

Let me be clear. Doubs had a fine season for the Green Bay Packers. The fourth-round pick showed a lot of promise in his rookie season. However, a lot of his production came at the beginning of the season. He caught two touchdowns early and then disappeared on the field. Some of this was due to an injury that caused him to miss some games but even when he came back, he wasn’t a differencd maker on the field. He had some problems with drops too that were drive killers late in the season. Christian Watson looks to be a star in the making. Doubs needs to step up his game so teams can’t just double Watson. A full offseason of work should help him and hopefully he will avoid a sophomore slump.

Other Green Bay Packers Candidates To Make A Jump

There are some others who need to improve their game next season. De’Vondre Campbell didn’t look like his All-Pro self. If he can return to form, the Packers’ defense would see a big boost. Devonte Wyatt needs to step up as well however I think his lack of production was due to the coaching staff not playing him rather than his poor play on the field. With more opportunity, he should have more production. Ultimately, the entire team just needs to play better. This season was marred with subpar play all around. Talent can only overcome so much.

Regardless of what happens with the QB position, the entire team needs to improve if the Green Bay Packers are going to take back the NFC North. It will be interesting to see what offseason moves GM Brian Gutekunst makes to improve the team.
