The staff of Defiant Takes Football participated in a three-round mock draft last week. The first section of this article reviews the Minnesota Vikings’ picks for these three mock draft rounds. The second section reviews the mock draft in its entirety.

First-Round Pick (#23): Will Levis Quarterback, Kentucky

I was actually incredibly surprised and happy that Will Levis fell to me at pick number 23. I thought that he would have been long gone by then. The Minnesota Vikings’ biggest draft need is at the cornerback position, but I could not pass up the opportunity to draft Kirk Cousins’ eventual successor. It was an excellent value pick. I originally tried to trade down to garner more draft picks for the Vikings (they only have five), but I received no offers. This worked out better than if I had planned it.

Second-Round Pick: The Minnesota Vikings have no second-round pick in this year’s draft.

Third Round Pick (#87): Gervon Dexter Sr. Defensive Tackle, University of Florida

This was both a need and value pick. Although the cornerback position is probably the number one need for the Minnesota Vikings this year, the defensive tackle position is next in line. With Dalvin Tomlinson departing for Cleveland in free agency, the Vikings have a huge hole to fill in the middle of their defensive line. If I hadn’t drafted Dexter at this spot, I probably would have chosen South Carolina cornerback Darius Rush. Dexter was just too good a value to ignore.
