The NFL draft is behind us, and there is still plenty of good NFL-caliber talent to sign who did not hear their names called.

After the draft was over, the Bills’ organization reached out to the following UDFAs and signed them to NFL contracts.

Buffalo Bills 2023 UDFA Watch List:

Former Fresno State (RB) Jordan Mims (7) – Cary Edmonson/USA TODAY Sports

1. Jordan Mims – RB | Fresno State

At 6’0″, 205 lbs., Mims is a bell cow running back who was a 2022 First-Team All-MWC player after a huge breakout year.  He rushed for 1,370 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Mims is an explosive rusher with a quick burst who is always looking for the end zone. While it may be tough for Mims to make the backfield rotation, look for him to make the team on special teams as another kick returner. His natural speed will help there.

Former Alabama Wide Receiver Tyrell Shavers (14) – Erich Schlegel/USA Today Sports

2. Tyrell Shavers – WR | San Diego

At 6’6″, 210 lbs., Shavers carries with him a wing span of over 78 inches. He reeled in 38 passes for 643 yards and three touchdowns.  Let’s call him a professional college goer as he transferred to San Diego after previous stops at Mississippi State and Alabama.

His ability to play special teams already gives him a leg up in making the Bills roster, as McDermott believes in position players playing special teams in year one.

3. Jalen Wayne – WR | South Alabama

If the name sounds familiar, that’s because it is. Wide Receiver Jalen Wayne is the second cousin of Hall of Fame Wide Receiver Reggie Wayne. Many are surprised not to see his name get called in the draft. The high-end Wide Receiver caught 58 passes for 816 yards and nine tds. last season.

Luckily, the Bills are giving this kid a chance. Right now, the Bills are the best place for the talented receiver to go. He’s got everything going for him. At 6’2″, 207 lbs, he has the talent, and if he makes the Bills roster, he will have one of the best quarterbacks in the league, Josh Allen, to throw him the ball and develop chemistry with just like Peyton Manning had with Reggie, in Indy. Boy, would the Bills fans like to see that in Buffalo. Shout!

Former Alabama DT DJ Dale (94) – Michael Wade/Getty Images

4. DJ Dale – DT | Alabama

Dale is one of those rare undrafted prospects coming from Alabama who was not taken off the board. He made 17 tackles and 2.5 sacks last year. When he was there, he was known as his former teammate and number 3 overall pick Will Anderson’s right-hand man.

At 6’3″, 300 lbs., he is very quick off the line, which he fully used to prevent him from being double-teamed, which gave him a plus when facing IOLs. Dale could make the team and has a great chance to be a backup player. Dale will have to play special teams if he wants to find a way to make the squad.

5. Noah Henderson – OL | East Carolina

The Bills do need to continue to add pieces to fill their needs at Right Tackle.  Starting Right Tackle is where Henderson spent the last two seasons. At 6′ 6″, 319 lbs., he is a big body who is dependable, and has very fast feet.

In 2023, he played in both the Hula Bowl and the NFLPA Bowl. While the Bills didn’t draft a starting right tackle, they still have swing tackle Spencer Brown, but Henderson does have a good chance to come in and compete for the starting right tackle spot as a UDFA.

Former Florida Gators OL Richard Gouraige (76) – David Rosenblum/Getty Images

6. Richard Gouraige – OL | Florida

The second Bills lineman taken from Florida, Gouraige protected Anthony Richardson’s blindside this past season and did a great job. At 6’5″, 308 lbs., he started 42 games (25 at left tackle and 17 at left guard) and only allowed one sack in 343 snaps.

As previously mentioned, Gouraige is the second Florida lineman added to the Bills team, along with teammate O’Cyrus Torrance, who was taken by the Bills with the 59th pick in the 2023 NFL draft.
