Now, that’s more like it Bills Mafia. Our Josh Allen is back and playing like Josh Allen should.

Going to the no-huddle offense Thursday night felt nostalgic and brought back memories of Jim Kelly and the Buffalo Bills. The fact Kelly was there to see the offense in person was just the cherry on top of the sundae.

What Worked Well for the Buffalo Bills

It was nice to get our Buffalo Bills offense back in a short week and the entire team looked prepared from start to finish. Allen completed the game throwing for 324 yards, and only one pick, but he was back to running the football as he piled up 41 yards on the ground.

The multi-tasked quarterback looked like the Allen of old, where he played like he was in free control of the offense for the majority of the game. If number 17 wanted to throw the ball deep, he threw the ball deep.

If he wanted to run, the offensive staff let him take off and run. They even let him run some tempo as previously mentioned, but I can’t stress enough how they should be going tempo more often than they have this year.

Effective Wide Receiver Play

Buffalo Bills second-year wide receiver Khalil Shakir finally broke out as the Boise State alum had a career-best 92 yards on six catches.

If there was ever a game where his offseason training with former Bills wide receiver Eric Moulds would pay off, it sure did show, as he led the Buffalo Bills in total receiving for the night.

Gabe Davis was back to doing Gabe Davis-like things as he entertained the fans with a career-dazzling 87 yards on nine catches and recording his fifth touchdown this year.

Finally, Stefon Diggs finished the contest with 70 yards on nine catches as Allen and the Bill’s offense did a nice job spreading the ball around to as many targets as possible.

Tight End Contribution

It was a solid starting debut for rookie tight end Dalton Kincaid, as before the start of the game, he was the only active (TE) since Dawson Knox and Quintin Morris were both ruled out.

Still, Kincaid showed why he could be the Buffalo Bills version of Travis Kelce, as the number 25 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft.

The erupted tight end balled out and compiled 65 yards, on five catches and caught his first career touchdown pass.

He can be that superstar pass-catching tight end the Bills have needed forever in the 21st century if he just builds off of this performance and isn’t just satisfied with having a great debut.

Coaches Thoughts

It was not a 100% executed game plan, but it was a much better performance by the offense, as they looked more in sync than in the past couple of weeks.

The Buffalo Bills needed to have a rebound game after a heartbreaking loss, 29-25 to the New England Patriots last week, and that is exactly what they did.

At the end of the day, the fans left happy as the home team Buffalo Bills scored more points than the visiting Tampa Bay Buccaneers did.

“The offense looked very comfortable and probably the first time other than maybe in episodes of the Raiders game and then again in Miami,” McDermott said, “There looked like there were some easy plays, I guess I should say. So that was good.”

Let’s keep the momentum going as the Bills will be traveling on the road to face the Cincinnati Bengals at 8:20 pm on SNF on NBC next week.

And I say, “Give the freedom to Josh to play like the Josh that Bills fans know and support.”
