NFL free agency is right around the corner. While this is a weaker free-agent class, there are still some great players that can have a huge impact on teams. One of those players is offensive tackle, Orlando Brown. Here are three potential landing spots for the offensive tackle.

Potential Landing Spots For Orlando Brown

I first have to point out how rare this is. Brown is coming off of a Super Bowl victory where he was protecting Patrick Mahomes‘ blind side. The formidable Philadelphia Eagles pass rush was completely contained and Brown was a huge part of that. Brown is only 26 years old but the Chiefs could not agree to a contract and so he was released. He should be one of the most sought-after free agents in the class. Here are the potential fits.

The Bears have the most cap space of any team in the NFL. They are committed to Justin Fields at quarterback which means they need to invest in protecting him. Signing Brown would shore up the left tackle position for the Bears meaning they can take their picks and spend them elsewhere.

Time and time again we have seen teams not invest in the offensive line and have it end in disaster. It doesn’t matter how good your skill positions are, if the offensive line cannot block, there is little a team can do. Signing Brown doesn’t just solve the problem for this year either. He hopefully can become a quality starter for years to come. This is the most obvious of the landing spots for Orlando Brown.

New York Jets

The Jets are going to do something at quarterback. At the writing of this article, there are only rumors swirling about an Aaron Rodgers trade. Even if they don’t land Rodgers, they will have someone other than Zach Wilson at quarterback next year. It is time to protect whoever that is. The Jets are going for it. With the glut of young talent on cheap contracts they have, the Jets believe their window is now. It would be a shame to get the star quarterback and then have him under duress for the entire season. The Jets are a team to watch throughout free agency as they try to retool their team in order to contend.

Houston Texans

On a similar thread to the Jets, the Texans are going to have a new quarterback next season. They are slated to draft one of the top quarterback prospects in the NFL draft in April. That becomes the team’s most important asset. Shoring up the left tackle position is not just an investment in the position, it is a protection for the most important position in football and to your franchise. Brown has a huge frame and would be able to protect the blind side of whoever the Texans pick. While it may seem like a premature move for the Texans, protecting their franchise quarterback should be priority number one.

Those are three potential landing spots for Orlando Brown. A reunion with the Chiefs is also not out of the question so it will be interesting to see where he ultimately signs.
