The Houston Texans are rebuilding but are on the uptick with their drafting of C.J. Stroud and Will Anderson but they also had a solid draft with the drafting of Wide Receiver Tank Dell. The team is young but is getting stronger with other veteran acquisitions in the offseason, such as wide receiver Robert Woods. But what if the team is looking for more? A little bit more depth or star power as there is certainly star power left on the open this late into the offseason. If they were to add a player or two, here is a good list of players they should look into.

Three Free Agents the Texans Could Sign Heading into Training Camp

FREE AGENT TARGET

1. Dalton Risner/ Offensive Guard

Should the Texans pursue free agent guard Dalton Risner?

This one is a bit head-scratching to me, as Risner is a solid guard that could be a nice piece to any offensive line. The Texans already have Shaq Mason to fill in their right side but what about the left side? The team has second-year player Kenyon Green who they believe highly in but what about someone like Risner? Risner is more experienced and even if he were to not be the starter, he could still be a good influence on the second-year player and be a fantastic depth piece for the roster. Risner and Laremy Tunsil would form a strong line on the left side of the Texans wall.

2. Deandre Hopkins/Wide Reciever

DeAndre Hopkins to the Texans would be surprising

This one is a no-brainer, right? Deandre Hopkins is still one of the league’s best and just like with what I said about adding Stefon Diggs yesterday, the veteran receiver do wonders for the rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud. At Ohio State Stroud was used to a loaded Qb room and why not give him the same in the league.

The hatchet seems as if it’s been buried with everyone involved in the 2020 saga and trade are gone and there is a new regime in H-Town. The word around the league is that Hopkins is looking for a significant amount of compensation on his next contract but the Texans could realistically do it if it made enough since in the long term. They are a young team and they have shed some of their bad contracts from aging players so they could realistically pull this off for D-Hop.

3. Teddy Bridgewater- Quarterback

Texans could target Former Dolphins QB

This too feels like a no-brainer, right? Maybe not for Teddy Bridgewater himself but for a veteran Quarterback of some kind. Bridgewater would be the perfect backup and the perfect pro. He has backed up for a number of young quarterbacks and has been very valuable to the teams he’s played for. There are some questions as to whether Bridgewater could be the perfect mentor like Alex Smith but he still could be a solid contributor to help and also push Stroud to give light a fire inside the rookie.

The room needs experience and while there is Davis Mills who is a third-year player, the room more specifically needs successful experience. Bridgewater has done a lot in his career and still has it. In Houston, he most likely will not start unless Stroud is catastrophic or an injury occurs. It is hard to tell whether Bridgewater will be open to such a role, but the Texans should at least approach him or some form of a veteran quarterback that is left on the market.
