What is the division outlook for the Seattle Seahawks in the 2023 season? How will they fare in divisional games this year? Read on to find out my predictions.
Division Outlook For 2023
The division outlook for Seattle is bright. The Arizona Cardinals are a dumpster fire in the form of a football team, and the Rams aren’t much better. Our biggest contender for first place in the division is the San Francisco 49ers. If I had to call the division now, I would say the 49ers will be first, the Seahawks will be second, the Rams will be third, and the Cardinals will be fourth.
I’ll stay humble and let the 49ers have first place for now, but they’ll have to work hard for that. Plus, the Hawks are good but not great right now and are not necessarily first-place material. We have a lot of rookies and a lot of holes. The division outlook is hard to predict until we see how our newest additions come together this season.
Divisional Game Outcomes
The Seahawks have six divisional games in the 2023 season. They will start and finish the season with divisional games, with the majority in the later half of the season.
Week 1: Los Angeles Rams – September 10th, 3:25 PM CST: W
Seattle will start the season up against a quarterback who has been out the majority of last season with a scrambled spinal cord.
The team is still recovering from their decision to pick players that would create their super team in 2021 but didn’t have longevity. They don’t have the draft picks to fix their roster quickly either. They made their bed, and now it’s their job to lie in it. And lose to the Seahawks.
Week 7: Arizona Cardinals – October 22nd, 3:05 PM CST: W
Kyler Murray likely won’t be on the gridiron heading into the 2023 season due to recovering from an ACL tear. He will be rusty at best in Week 7.
The division outlook is very bleak for the Cardinals. Any wins they get will not be against a team as strong as the Hawks. Murray can’t carry the team alone, but he is the thing that could tip their odds for a win. A rusty, post-recovery Kyler won’t be in a position to do that at this point.
Week 11: Los Angeles Rams – November 19th, 3:25 PM CST: W
The Rams’ second-string quarterback is rookie Stetson Bennett (if you’re asking who that is, don’t worry, we all are). I wouldn’t be comfortable as a LA Rams fan when my starting QB is coming in off a serious injury, isn’t a spring chicken, and has a second-string rookie behind him.
The Rams have no chance until they can do the ol’ rebuild.
Week 12: San Francisco 49ers – November 23rd, 7:20 PM CST: L
The San Francisco 49ers are the Hawks’ main competition. They have an offensive scheme so strong that it can support any quarterback that can do the bare minimum on the gridiron. It will be interesting to see what will happen at the QB position since Trey Lance seems like a bit of a delicate sunflower, and Sam Darnold sees ghosts on and off the field. The thing is that it doesn’t entirely matter because they can pull it together and secure a win even when it doesn’t look like it. I predict a loss because Seattle likely won’t win every division game.
Week 14: San Francisco 49ers – December 10th, 3:05 PM CST: L
As the bane of the Seahawks’ existence, I think the 49ers will squirrel away another win. It’s only two weeks after their first game, and the morale could be a bit low after week 12.
Week 18: Arizona Cardinals – TBD: W
Let’s be honest; the Cardinals will be struggling to finish off what will be an exhausting and discouraging season. They will crawl to the season’s finish line with a loss to Seattle.
