DFT Mock Draft
NFL Draft week has arrived, and the Kansas City Chiefs will be on the clock multiple times this weekend as they decide who to pick up and give a contract. The Chiefs need many positions, and some will be best filled in during the draft. They need offensive linemen, wide receivers, and defensive personnel. I picked up two offensive linemen and one wide receiver during the first three rounds of the DFT mock draft.
Anton Harrison, OT Oklahoma
Harrison has played on the left side all through college, and the Chiefs have always struggled on that left side. He is instinctive and fast and will help out a fellow lineman when he is left unblocked. Harrison’s first contact with the opponent isn’t quite ready for the NFL level, but Reid likes players who still need to build their skills and improve their game.
Marvin Mims Jr, WR Oklahoma
Mims likes to line up on the inside, and his speed will be a great matchup for any defensive back in the league. Put a ball in his hand, and that’s when he gets dangerous, not just with his speed but his footwork. He was also a solid punt returner at Oklahoma as well. Mims also has the ability to tack on extra yards averaging 19.5 yards per catch. The Chiefs won’t need to put much in him to get a great wide receiver, so he will be a great addition with his skill.
Blake Freeland, OT BYU
Freeland rounded out the three rounds with his size, agility, and run block. He played on both sides of the line at BYU and was seen more interior than exterior. The Chiefs would most likely move him to the outside, and he would also most likely play on special teams for field goals. Freeland has a lot to work on when it comes to pass plays and protecting the quarterback if the Chiefs were to move him to the outside.
