The Baltimore Ravens rebounded from last week’s 22-19 overtime loss to the Indianapolis Colts and handled their business and much more in Cleveland against divisional foe the Cleveland Browns in a 28-3 beatdown victory.
Ravens vs. Browns Post Game Analysis
Before the game started, it was announced that Browns starting quarterback Deshaun Watson would not play due to a shoulder injury. Rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson picked up the torch for Cleveland.
Thompson-Robinson did have some good plays in the game. However, early on in the first quarter, he did throw an interception to Brandon Stephens. Thompson-Robinson finished the day with 19 receptions for 121 yards, threw no touchdowns, threw three interceptions, and was sacked four times by the ferocious Ravens defense.
After the Stephens interception, Lamar Jackson and company had a very productive day on offense by running into the endzone to score the game’s first touchdown. Jackson finished the day throwing 15 receptions for 186 yards, threw two touchdowns, and threw no interceptions, but was sacked three times. Jackson also rushed for 27 yards on nine carries and scored two rushing touchdowns.
Tight end Mark Andrews had himself a day near Lake Erie as he caught five receptions for 80 yards and scored two receiving touchdowns for the Ravens.
The Ravens were without wide receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Rashod Bateman, who are both dealing with hamstring and ankle injuries, respectively.
Zay Flowers caught three receptions for 56 yards on the day and made two first-down plays for Baltimore. He will hopefully score his first NFL touchdown in one of these games.
Defensively, the Ravens added former two-time Super Bowl Champion with the New England Patriots Kyle Van Noy at the right time in the week, as he had a pass deflection during the game.
Patrick Queen had five tackles, a sack, and two stuffs, Roquan Smith had ten tackles and two pass deflections, and Kyle Hamilton had five tackles, an interception, a pass deflection, and a stuff.
On the Browns side of the ball, wide receiver Elijah Moore caught two receptions for 20 yards, and tight end David Njoku caught six receptions for 46 yards.
Defensively, Myles Garrett had two tackles and a sack against Jackson at the very beginning of the game.
Unfortunately, the Browns were only able to muster up three points on a Dustin Hopkins 53-yard field goal attempt.
The Browns do have good playmakers. They ultimately had some tough breaks that did not go their way and have been dealing with some bad luck along the way lately.
They almost scored a touchdown at the very end of the game as Pierre Strong Jr. set the Browns up for a good shot at the endzone. Strong Jr. finished the day with five carries for 49 yards.
Thompson-Robinson tried to throw a touchdown to give the Browns more points on the board but was intercepted by Kyle Hamilton, ending the Browns’ hopes of scoring.
The Browns enter week five with a bye week for the team to regroup for their week six matchup against the San Francisco 49ers on Oct. 15 at 1:00 p.m. E.T. on FOX.
As for the Ravens, they handled business like usual against a divisional foe, although the lack of wide receivers does sting a little bit.
Flowers and Andrews played very well on offense, while the defense kept Cleveland out of the endzone for the duration of the game.
As with any match-up- one up, one down- The Raven’s redemption in Clevland was a sore loss for the Browns.
The Baltimore Ravens will continue their road trip with a week five matchup against their biggest AFC North rival, the Pittsburgh Steelers on Oct. 8 at 1:00 p.m. E.T. on CBS.
